2024 Hire Rates Published

At the recent AGM, we proposed new hire rates to come into effect from 1st January, 2024. This will represent the first time we have increased hire rates since the pandemic and the reason for the adjustment will come as no surprise; the rising cost of energy and other bought-in costs that we incur.

As a charity, we do not seek to make a profit, although we need to earn enough to both cover our running costs and ensure we have sufficient funds for maintenance & investment when it becomes necessary. We exist to offer a facility for the local community, not to particularly make money. Our inclination, therefore, is to keep costs as low as possible, to try and encourage as much use of the hall as possible, and hence deliver maximum benefit to the local community.

However, no one will be surprised that electricity, Calor gas (our only source of heating), as well as insurance, etc have all gone up.

The management committee (consisting of the hall Trustees and other supporters) have decided to increase hire costs, particularly on those elements that have most been affected by external cost increases. To reflect that a high use of energy is when the kitchen is used for cooking and catering purposes, it is the intention of the committee to increase the charge for the use of the kitchen by £2.00 per hour, from £4.50 to £6.50, with effect from 1 January 2024.  As use of the kitchen is included in the charge for the exclusive-use of the hall, the exclusive-use charges will also increase by £2.00 per hour, which will effect these hire rates as follows:

Monday – Thursday: increase from £14 to £16/hour for Colmworth residents and Colmworth based charities and organisations; and from £17 to £19/hour for non-residents and commercial hirers.

Friday – Sunday: increase from £16 to £18 / hour for Colmworth residents and Colmworth based charities and organisations; and from £19 to £21 / hour for non-residents and commercial hirers.

The hire rates on the pricing page of the website will be updated from 1st January, 2024 to reflect the then current hire rates.
