Hire Charge Changes for 2027
New hire rates are to come into effect from 1st January 2027. These changes represent the first time we have increased hire rates since 2024 and the reason for the adjustment will come as no surprise; the rising cost of energy and other bought-in costs that we incur.
As a charity, we do not seek to make a profit, although we need to earn enough to both cover our running costs and ensure we have sufficient funds for maintenance & investment when it becomes necessary. We exist to offer a facility for the local community, not to particularly make money. Our inclination, therefore, is to keep costs as low as possible, to try and encourage as much use of the hall as possible and hence deliver maximum benefit to the local community.
However, no one will be surprised that electricity, Calor gas (our only source of heating), as well as insurance, etc have all gone up. Water rates and charges have increased too.
The management committee (consisting of the hall Trustees and other supporters) have decided to increase hire costs for hire by an average of 10%.
The committee has also reviewed the charge rates where the hall is hired exclusively for whole day. These rates have been increased by 10%. This all-day rate offers a discount from hourly charges. For non-residential and commercial hirers, the discount rates will also be reduced from 6 free hours to 4. The residents discount remains at 6 free hours, therefore for residents the exclusive day rate has only been increased by 10%.
The hire rates on the pricing page of the website will be updated from 1st January 2027 to reflect the then current hire rates.
